Scott Duncan is an ocean guy. It matters not that he was raised on a lake (Toronto) and was subsequently bitten by the film bug with a first job at Universal Films Canada. He promised himself that eventually he’d follow his two passions – salt water and film production – and hopefully those two would factor into the same location (Hello LA!) Just out of college with a degree in marketing, his serendipitous first job with Universal Toronto had him learning the film biz from the ground up. Mentored by some of the best in the business, Scott learned at the feet of a number of industry masters, and rose up the ranks into the field of movie marketing. Winters in Toronto were not cutting it, so Scott sold his trusty Honda Civic for a plane ticket, and went to seek his fortune in LA. Giving back and volunteerism have always been important to Scott. Arriving in California with nary a connection, just chutzpah and a dream, he volunteered with the Make a Wish Foundation which led, via contacts, to a job with Trillion Entertainment. Fourteen years with Trillion took his learning curve from production, post-production, financing, marketing, to film licensing – a full deck of skills in the best location possible (oh, did we mention that LA is on the Pacific Ocean?) Scott is now running his own ship and following those promises he made to himself. Within the seven divisions of World Media, is a digital strategy division specific to the film and TV industry. The synergy of this made it a natural fit for Scott to act as Licensing Agent and represent Magnify Digital’s ALERT® product in the US.
